GREATER COLUMBIA ROSE SOCIETY

EXTENDS A SPECIAL INVITATION TO JOIN

The Greater Columbia Rose Society extends this special invitation to join our Society of Rose Lovers. The Society was organized, May 1971, and is an affiliated club of The American Rose Society.

The primary objective of the society is to share information, to encourage, and stimulate interest in the cultivation and love of the rose, our National Floral emblem. We have well planned programs of education, which are used to teach the latest methods of planting, pruning, cultivation, and disease control. New varieties are highlighted as well as the use of artistic arrangements, and all other interesting phases of the hobby of growing roses.

MEETINGS: We meet on the fourth Sunday of each month, except July, August, and November. The last Saturday of February we hold a pruning workshop and demonstration at the rose garden in front of the Palmetto Richland Hospital and in December a Holiday Banquet. We meet in Suite 130 of Nine Medical Park at Palmetto Richland Hospital at 3:30pm. Following our programs we have a question and answer period to answer any rose growing questions you may have. We also publish a local bi-monthly newsletter containing information on rose growing, and upcoming events.

CONSULTING ROSARIANS: We have a staff of consulting rosarians, appointed by the American Rose society, to help persons interested in good rose growing practices. Their services are free. Listed below are the names and telephone numbers of consulting Rosarians in the Greater Columbia area. Please do not hesitate to call any of them with questions regarding rose growing problems.

South Carolina State Rose Society, annual 12.50

American Rose Society, annual regular membership (senior dues $34.00) 37.00

We encourage our members to become full American Rose Society members. By becoming a full member, you will receive the following: A colorful, informative, monthly magazine, the American Rose Society Handbook for selecting roses and the yearly Rose Annual containing articles by top rose growers in the nation. All this and much more including free entry to many outstanding rose gardens nation wide.
