2003 CR School

            The 2003 School will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Lake Wylie Public Library, Lake Wylie, SC., beginning at 8:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast followed by the educational program and the required test for CR candidates.

          Faculty for this CR School are District Director, Blake Robinson, with a warm welcome; Frances Ballentine on the CR Program and Mission; Bill Patterson of Roses Unlimited on Soil and Water; Drs. Gary Rankin and Monica Valentovic on Garden Chemicals, Safety, and IPM; and the combined faculty on Diagnosing Pests and Diseases in the Garden.

          CR Candidates will take the open book test beginning at 3:15. When all are finished, the tests will be graded and new CRs certified! The School should end by 5 p.m.

          The cost of the school is $20.00 per person and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and school materials; $25.00 if an ARS Certificate is requested. Checks should be made payable to the Carolina District and submitted with the application for the CR School.

          The School is open to anyone interested in roses, to CR candidates and CRs wanting recertification as CRs.

Qualifications for CR Candidates are:      

1.     ARS membership for three years prior to the School

2.     Rose growing experience for five years prior to the School

3.     Three letters of recommendation from CRs endorsing the candidate’s qualifications

4.     A willingness to assist and advise others on rose culture and to share this knowledge with others.

5.     Taking and passing the CR open-book test.

 

The deadline for submitting applications is June 30, 2003, as credentials must be checked with ARS prior to the school.
