Keeping Cut Roses Fresh

Prepare a solution for the vase by either buying floral preservative or making your own. A.C. McGraw had the following recipe in a recent Winston-Salem Journal article.

(Soak Oasis, or floral foam, in tap water before anchoring it in a vase.)

• 1cup regular lemon-lime soda
• 4 cups water
• 2 drops laundry bleach

Fill the vase with this solution and also use it to replenish.
