Roses are classified using the ARS classification system (HT, F, Min, HK or, etc.), but no awards are given as we consider this an education event. We also have one table to display the roses from our public non-spray rose test garden (located at the American Red Cross facility), to provide examples of roses that do well in our mountains for those individuals who like roses but do not wish to spray.

The Asheville-Blue Ridge Rose Society meets from January to November in the Red Cross classrooms

on Edgewood, just off Merrimon. There is a traffic light and a large blue BLOOD DONOR sign on the

corner.

Meetings are the 2nd Sunday at 3pm. Visitors are welcome!

At the red Cross Building we have a no spray (except for dormant spray) rose garden containing over

50 roses. This is a public garden maintained by the Asheville-Blue Ridge Rose Society which is also

a test garden that we evaluate on a yearly basis.

We hold a rose exhibition in early June at the NC Arboretum.

In September there is a members' booth with roses which are changed daily.

We urge our members to enter the Western NC Mountain State Fair where there are money prizes for blue, red, and white ribbons.
